Arrow Senior Living is known for doing things a little differently and challenging the status quo within the industry. It’s just who we are! Even with all the technological conveniences of today such as social media and websites, it is still common to meet individuals with a skewed perception of what senior living looks like. In this blog, I want to share my senior living journey, why I remain committed to the industry, the biggest myth I believe exists, and how to help others overcome the myths surrounding our beautiful Vitalia Rockside community and services.

Nurturing Passion: A 25-Year Dedication to Senior Living Excellence

My career journey began at the age of 15 when I started working as a Nursing Assistant in a nursing home. That early experience ignited my passion for working with older adults. It led me to pursue a BBA in marketing and an MBA in healthcare administration from Cleveland State University. For the past 25 years, I’ve dedicated myself to serving seniors in various capacities within the senior living industry, including sales, Executive Director, and Regional Director roles. The Executive Director position holds a special place in my heart. It allows me to cultivate meaningful relationships with our residents and their families.

My primary goal is to foster an environment where residents can thrive, while providing families with peace of mind. I consider myself fortunate to be a part of Vitalia and Arrow Senior Living. These organizations have instilled a culture of compassion and maintain high standards of care and event programming. Each week, I collaborate closely with the Vitalia team to inspire, refine operations, and enhance our service offerings.

Embracing Change: Redefining Living Space in Senior Living Communities

When older adults consider moving to senior living communities, they often have concerns about how their routines will be impacted. This is especially true if they’re transitioning from their lifelong homes. One common worry is the reduction in living space.

However, senior living offers a supportive environment that alleviates the burdens of managing a household. Residents can tailor their level of assistance to their specific needs, allowing them to focus on living a vibrant and independent lifestyle. Our community provides daily opportunities for engagement and socialization. We have an onsite restaurant that is open from 7 am to 7 pm. The restaurant offers a variety of menu options to cater to residents’ preferences.

While downsizing may seem daunting, it can ultimately lead to a more fulfilling life. Many older adults have accumulated a lifetime of belongings. Through the downsizing process, they can discern what truly adds value to their lives. By shifting the focus from managing a household to pursuing hobbies and social activities, residents can experience newfound freedom and enjoyment in their daily lives.
