Know that your loved one is cared for like family.
Few challenges are as daunting as searching for a senior community for a family member with Alzheimer’s or other dementia. VITALIA®’s staff strives to provide personalized care that is of the highest caliber. This allows you to step back from being the caregiver and start to be family once more.
By focusing on dignity, quality of life, and independence, we strive to ensure all residents feel respected and cared for as they age, regardless of what they remember today or tomorrow.
Memory Care Apartments
The apartments in our Memory Care community were designed from the ground up to have a simple layout that will minimize confusion, be easy to navigate, and provide easy access to the community as a whole. We want residents to feel comfortable and safe in their apartment while still able to explore and participate whenever they feel like.
Assigned Life Enrichment Coordinators
We believe that quality care begins with strong relationships. That’s why we pair life enrichment coordinators and residents as a team – so personalized bonds of trust and friendship can be developed over time. By interacting with the same set of residents consistently, we are able to focus on developing communication skills unique to each resident and strive to identify small changes in health and wellness.
One top-of-the-mind concerns for most families is finding a safe but welcoming community. The memory care cottage was designed to not just focus on comfort and ease of navigation, but on security. The last thing that we want, however, is to make a resident feel monitored. If they are not comfortable, they are not home. So any security measures that we implement are done as discreetly and unobtrusively as possible.
VITALIA® crafts specialized activity areas, called Life Stations™, and strategically place them throughout our Memory Care neighborhood to promote engagement opportunities for residents. These stations evoke important aspects of life such as travel, military service, fashion, outdoor excursions, and others in order to draw attention and engage residents. Life Boxes, specific to residents, are also made by our Life Enrichment Coordinators!
Every resident is different – with unique symptoms and behaviors caused by memory loss. But that doesn’t mean that residents’ activity should be limited. At The VITALIA®, engagement means going the extra mile to understand each resident on a deeply personal level so residents receive the very best care and continue to participate in the community.
One undeniably difficult symptom of memory loss is the toll it takes on diet. From changing tastes to loss of appetite, challenges can exacerbate such issues as malnutrition. Utilizing and engaging all five senses, VITALIA® has developed methods for exciting the appetite and helping residents re-connect with their love of food.
Things that were once routine are no longer so when suffering from Alzheimer’s. That’s why VITALIA® makes sure that every day residents of Memory Care receive assistance with grooming so they are ready to face the day. Small things like a simple comb or washing the face can make a world of difference towards feeling like yourself again. Additionally, Memory Care residents take regular trips to the salon at no extra cost!
Providing care for residents with dementia is a highly specialized skill – one that we develop with best courses in empathy, communication, and personal care. Our Care Partners and Life Enrichment Coordinators undergo extensive, above-and-beyond training to make sure that residents receive the best care possible.
Our leadership team is carefully selected and filled with exceptional, dedicated individuals who know love their work and the residents. Paired with a group of incredible Life Enrichment Coordinators, the team makes for a truly remarkable Memory Care environment.
